super fun card to bench, there is no ovp\ocp that I can find running 1.5- 1.7 without a problem. Cold bug is around -50 not -38 my probe slipped out during first few sessions. I can live with -50. Now just gotta find out how sniper got his mems to run so high on cold water.

lol...yeah, sniper has a trick or 2 up his sleeve.

for coldbug you can also try to give the vrm a constant 3.3v input to keep the vr_enable high all the time. thats the main reason for a cold bug. it will keep running nomatter what cold(theoreticly) but you could run into cold slow, which lowers the clocks etc because of bios and then you need a cold bios.

wow, awsome info thank you. Is this as easy as it sounds? Can I just attach 3.3v feed from psu directly to vrm leg????

well, TiN once told me to be sure just put a variable resistor in between. like 50k or something so you can fine tune it and dont directly burn the ic out in case of failure. is just to be safe. but yes if done right it's pretty easy. if bios gets cold in windows and tells vrm to shutdown because he gets wrong temp info, the ic won't because of the 3.3v input the leg is still pulled high and so still enabled.

Looking for a place to steal 3.3v from and looks like I can use the usb connector on mobo yea?

Derp....looks like sata power has one

sata power had indeed 3.3v, much easier. or find a spt on your gfx card. there should be around the first small part of pci-e

Hey Reg, stay away from my 9800's! jk;)

Snipe's running chilled water sub-z. Your -50c cb is normal...same as mine....better to run these cards on chilled water...not a lot to gain with more extreme methods. Unless of course you want to mod 'em up. Probably not worth the few extra boints either. But go for it! Sniper and I had a little battle last fall on the 9800 gtx's. Maybe we can all battle together:up:

tbh its easier for me to run it on dice than it is to prep for a chiller, who woulda thought huh. Gunna try this 3.3v mod on a 280 first looks like a better pcb for it and I hate my 280 more. If it works as it should the 9800gtx is next. Was loking at your scores must be a bitch to keep -50 on ln2. Saw your post about 580 being first card to mod, you should try feedback mod on this one its super easy then you will see gains from cold for sure. No ocp is great takes me about 1.6 @-40 or so to get past 1000. So get your soldering iron out cause im coming for ya.

Hey q i spent about 3 weeks looking for 01 fix on asus 1155 boards. I thought it was an OS issue. Only to have a friend of mine lead me to a post you wrote about how to pull up details. Good find, and huge help to me.

It's just a matter of time....I have very little of it. But one day I will mod my 9800's. YOu have links for the mods? And ya, I think the '01 details issue can be fixed with a BIOS update...Asus hasn't stepped up to the plate yet

sure thing pretty sure it was from xs let me find it.

here ya go http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/showthread.php?t=182767

so far I have only done vgpu mod in post 2 I used a 1kohm pot cause there easier to find. Might try mem mods later but I have a tendency to kill cards pretty quick with mem mods.

Thats a terrible core bro, Most good G92 cores should do 1GHz with 1.45v or less. my 9800GTX does 1GHz core if I so much as hold a thermos near it :) Seems to top out at 1037MHz.... i'm sooooo close to Vince' old 3D03 score

Very interested in this idea :) Saw your post on OCN as well :)

yea I am a little confused as to where to feed 3.3v. Found one of shaminos old guides of modding a pci slot im going to do that up for next session. Been probing card a little and im not sure where to connect 3.3 on card though. I have a tuff time probing because I cant get stock heatsync on cause of caps. My core might not be as good at low temps but im closing in on 1100mhz at high volts. Ill be sure to keep this thrad updated as I try things. Only got time for one more session before work gets crazy again so Im modding a few cards right now.

Card is not really a bad card at a glimpse looks like fasted 9800gtx core on hwbot.
