View Full Version : Gtx 580 0.1v boot issue
Heya guys,
Reference Gtx 580 on ln2. Was only at the start at about -45c. I set 1.35v in AB then screen when black and pc switched off. Now the card boots at 0.1v core. Memory is also in the lows (0.1v ish aswel). Any idea's what caused this problem? I did have a 100 OHM vr on the vcore mod but was using software at the time.
Thanks.. i know im not giving a lot of info to go on but i don't know what the problem could be.
nah just a reference card :/

start with desoldering one of the wires to the vcore mod :)
Yea thats one of the things i did 1st.
When i measure FB it looks fine. Maybe the controller just died? I might try zombie Vcore but then what about the other voltages, think my card is just deaad
hmm... seems my 100ohm VR is old and possibly damaged. I had a multimeter monitoring the volts. was on 1.05v. then when i hit 1.35v in AB it "died". I dont know what connection it has to the VR. but the vr in it's broken state was at 2ohms.. which isnt good :)

If it makes you feel any better, it's the 4th Palit reference card to die in a couple of weeks ...
but i had such a nice one >_<

referencne cards aren't as good as for ex. ASUS DirectCU II, MSI Lightning, Gigabyte SuperOverclock...I hope I will get to LN2 for DirectCU II on the beggining of july...and with Gulfy of course:)my first experience with GPU under extreme cooling:D

1.35 is too much for reference from the ones i tested, none of them really liked going past 1.3 loaded with higher clocks but for it to die that quick sheesh :(

that burn on Choke PWM chipset Goddy......I have good card can do 990 - 1165 on stock card...and LN2 just need -60 for 1200 - 1200 when I run on VGPU 1.35 Volt my card restart without reason. lastest bios from Palit still have cold slow higher than -70 soo I keep benching -60.. now I have problem same with you always restart my pc when bench 3D :(

1.3-1.35v is ok, its benchable @ -130, as long as the mosfets are actively cooled, otherwise mosfets burnout.
vivi, did you cool the mosfets with heatsinks?
Yea i even put heatsinks on the PCB just to cool it down. But my problem wasnt overheating. it was instant death of 1.35v in AB

Sorry to hear about your GPU :(
I never used AB for 580, instead I prefer using SmartDoctor, because I have always a lot of problems with AB :D
I stop using reference 580 when my Asus blew up during vantage tests @ 1.4v 1200 MHz GPU (two mosfets) so started using DCU2 :D Go for it! It's better a lot in my opinion :)
Me and junior-21 also lost a very good reference card while playing 3DMark 11 for the MOA Greek qualifiers @1360Mhz-1,45vgpu.A mosfet blow away.Hipro replaced it but it never came back to life.Since then we have been using DCII that can handle at least 1,6vgpu.
