Hello, new here. Thanks for posting that. Just ordered the board and was wondering about the BIOS. All I could find was P67 info. After looking around looks like I'm definitely in the right spot!

What M4E-Z BIOS do you recommend for SuperPi 32M?
0604 (3D BIOS) is also good for 2D?

I changed board from M4E to M4E-Z recently and only tried latest 1004.
Efficiency is ok, but I have problem to run 32M with any BCLK higer than 101 and 1:8 memory divider.
No problems with any other benchmark, only with 32M.
Already tried 0.465V-0.495V DDR ref voltages, dram voltage up to 1.95 and Vccio/Vccsa up to 1.25V.
CPU can go up to 5990, RAM can go up to 2300 7-8-7-20, BCLK can go up to 106.
RAM is elpida hyper based (old MNH-E).

This is the best I got so far on M4E-Z (no copywaza):
http://img710.imageshack.us/img710/6439/clipboard01oh.png

Old result on M4E with same RAM kit, 104 BCLK with 1:8 divider, DDR vref = auto:

Cool, I'll try that soon. While I'm typing, I'm having some trouble with SSD caching on this board; unfortunately I've reached an impasse. I'm trying to test out SSD caching on this MIVE-z. RAID is enabled, drivers installed, RST installed. The drives are a W/D WD500AAKS and a Corsair F160. When I go into RST to set up caching, it takes my settings but never applies the drive to be accelerated. I go to try and select it again and it just leaves "Accelerated Device: None". Here's a screenshot.

532

I know chances are slim anyone here has ever cared about SSD caching, but if so, does anyone have an idea why it won't take the selection of accelerated device? I've tried the RST version from ASUS' web site as well as the newest version from Intel; both displayed the same behavior.

The drives are a Corsair F160 and Western Digital WD500AAKS. The install was existing; I moved the OS install over to RAID on the HDD, then plugged in the SSD and installed RST to start acceleration. Not sure why it won't take the setting.

maybe Option ROM & IRST version mismatch

bios and driver version pls provide, and OS too

BIOS 1004, driver is newest RST from Intel - 10.8.0.1003, OS Win 7 x64 with all available updates.

BIOS 1004, driver is newest RST from Intel - 10.8.0.1003, OS Win 7 x64 with all available updates.

In that case you may be using a version of IRST that is way newer than the matched version.
Please roll back to version “V10.6.0.1002” on the Asus download page and see how it goes.

hokiealumnus
02-23-2012, 12:08 PM
Sorry, I forgot to mention I had already tried that. Same result. As a matter of fact, the screenshot above was taken with the version from ASUS' download page.

It's all very strange. I've tried formatting the drive with a 64G partition and it just removes the partitions to enable acceleration and makes its own. Is it possible to have an incompatible HDD? I mean, this isn't the newest W/D drive, but it's a hard drive...I didn't think that would matter.

Yes b2 does not support IVY due to Management Eng incompatibility so do not use 3202 on b2

ZenEffect
03-20-2012, 06:48 PM
I grabbed 3203 from support.asus.com. is this latest or is the 3202 you provided newer?

also (Mr. Tan, I know you probably hate this)

bclk set to auto = failed oc every time.

fyi for those who read this... 3203 seems pretty stable. cpu clocks higher now on air for both max oc and 24.7... in fact it seems that the bios was refined quite a bit... the system management section appears to have been changed vs previous versions.... and leaving all settings on (dun dun dun....) auto gets me 4.8ghz prime stable (48x multi, xmp profile enabled save reboot test)

so... for the team working on the bios... 12 thumbs up, I like it.

if you wonder why im running auto... its because a lot of times I have to explain the oc to people in the most simple terms known to man... auto settings helps me get through this process much much quicker.

quick question for anybody who can answer this....

windows 8 consumer preview + cpuz not good? I have bclk all over the place. I suspect its cpuz but I see an extra intel pxe rom boot when its not enabled.... and I saw that before on a different board when the ME got corrupt. I tried bios flashback to whatever the board shipped with 02xx and repro'd the issue in win8 so I suspect/hope its cpuz. hwinfo shows bclk fine.
