Got into town on Monday evening after going to the lantern festival on Sunday in Chungwa which is a little more North. That was cool too, but nowhere near as crazy :D

As soon as we rolled into town, I knew trouble was coming lol. Check out this street sign with all the rockets stuck in it, they all looked like this...in the whole city!

This year the festival is all about the Dragon as is the rest of the new Chinese lunar year

The main part of the festival is the "parade of the gods" that goes all over the city up and down every street around the two main temples. There are these chariots with gods on them and where ever these god chariots go, thats where the hellish fireworks are. They push them about 20 meters or so in the street, then stop and these large rocket beehive cages are pushed out and lit. some of them contain over 1/2 million rockets and they are all aimed horizontally for maximum human zorchment. The largest cages at the end of the night were wider than the whole street and maybe 4+ meters high. They get bigger and bigger as the night goes on. The whole thing lasted from 7pm-2am and it was nonstop the whole time. I lost count of how many beehives we stood in front of by midnight.

The smoke in the street during the parade was unreal, especially after the beehives went out. Very hard to breath right at end frenzy of fireworks

Chinese new year fireworks event in YanShui was one of the CRAZIEST things I have ever experienced my life. A few bumps, burns, and bruises but I survived :D. Lots of pics and I am editing some video footage I got before the camera zorched. Will post in a day or two..
