The main part of voltage filtering in this hobby and i see ppl adding caps to the zombies and OC'd cards.
Just got some main things i'd like to get opinions from and just general discussion what are good practices.
1. Capacitance vs ESR
And 2. how low you can go with the voltage rating on the capacitor.
1. So ok, when it comes to ESR it got to be low and UCC's NPCAP-PSC goes pretty much low as it gets on leaded caps low voltage caps (6-11mOhm) and Panasonic SP-Cap GX (3mOhm) on SMD side. In the usual configuration capacitors are in paraller and caps are added for greater capacitance, so i'd like to know how the ESR behaves when capacitors are added. I don't have LCR/ESR meter in hand so i cant check...
2. Normal effective voltage range in this hobby is around 1.2-2.3V. So what would be the sweet spot for rated voltage? 2V? 2.5V? 4V? 6.3V? For example those SP-Cap GXs are rated 2V and 470uF max, would these work well in below 2V range? Also the 1000uF 4V PSC seems to be in sweet spot, 6.64A Ripple Current and 6mOhm ESR.
Just looking for some input as i'm goin to order some goodies from digikey :D
