View Full Version : SLI patch to allow NV multiGPU run on any mobo
Most of people who wanted running SLI on their non-supported motherboard already tested found patch on web which patch windows.
It working nicely in 99.9% cases, so I think this should be available to PURE too :p
Latest patch is very easy to apply, and work well on any motherboard, which have enough slots to run multiple NV cards.
Slipatch have it's website, i don't see frequent updated, but still better than nothing.
slipatch.com (http://slipatch.com)
According to hwbot.org , this little tool allowed ppl to have some really good scores on systems with Core Duos, including current 3dmark01 records (http://hwbot.org/community/submission/1016811_kingpin_3dmark2001_se_2x_geforce_gtx_275_140080_marks).:up:

make sure when doing this patch you follow the directions to a tee. my first time doing it I borked my win7 install and had to redo it. but the second time I did it it worked on E8400 and maximus formula
Very latest 196.75 WHQL Drivers are working nicely with patched SLI on any system too ;)

I did this with 2 280s and a 955 on a 790fx board. Worked beautifully once i figured it all out. My performance wasnt so hot though since i didnt have a SLI bridge that would fit the gap.
I want to say congratulations to slipatch developers, in person sveetsnelda and anatolymik. Guys did SLI AGAIN.
Bit more details from authors:
We have SLI working okay with very latest drivers, including 258 and 260 branch. Most of latest testers know, that something was screwed since 257 drivers when you tried to run SLI patched rig with non-supported mobo.
Now we glad to confirm new version of SLI patch working flawlessly for hours and days without any problems now, even with 260 driver. So any 2xGTX460 GTX450 can still work in even P965 mobos :D
NVIDIA included special routine to detect this exact patch in all their drivers since 258 versions! :D And that was done in funny way So when driver detects patch - it calls special function to crash you system. Yes, you understood that correct - special function that only crash when finded our code in windows kernel. We already know everything about that, and easily can bypass that check.
New patch version will be released soon, better than ever. As usual all chipsets and all videocards are supported, as usual you dont need to get special modifications for drivers or anything manual. Stay tuned!
I'm smiling now, to realize that such a corp like NV did something stupid because of three, literally, THREE entusiasts which done SLI available everybody. Ill post here when patch site updates :)

well, for quad sli you need motherboard with dual nf200. So if you want run quad sli you got, well, 4 boards that can do it (I'm also counting RIIIE + xpander). All are quite expensive but there is a lot of other boards, good boards which has four slots and you could easily run 4 gpus. So drivers need to think that you're using one of this dual nf200 boards. Well, chew* tried to run quadsli on amd with hacked drivers but they showed dual sli rig (four gpus running in two pairs = dual sli). But as far quad sli doesn't work on non 2xnf200 boards, so if you guys could put couple lines of code more to cheat drivers that they are running on E762/UD9/SR-2/ RIIIE + Xpander would nice :D at least for benchers :D
For quad-sli with 4 singlecore vgas drivers need to see nf200 bridges. It's very hard to emulate them via software I guess. And I see no much need in that, if somebody can afford four top cards for $$$ then 400$ for proper max-speed board is not so a deal afaik.
So it's not couple of lines, we even dont know what exactly nf200 do, except PCI-E switch.

Just coming form a german community where I read about this case.
You guys are awesome, bringing nvidia to code malicious software.
Go ahead bringing them to black despair until they start considering the customers needs.

Since X58 supports 3-Way SLI by default, I suppose this patch would also enable 3-way on older chipsets?
Trying to get the patch working on this 590i board, but no luck so far. When trying to load the sli-enabled partition, I get the message that ntoskrnp.exe is corrupt.
Yes, of course.
But you need to ensure that all cards running same root PCI-E complex, from what i know.

How to check for root PCI-E complex?
I suppose that even if SLI wouldn't work due to a different root complex, the OS should still be booting?
Yah, it should boot.
Try to clean up system back and apply everything exact as described in on slipatch.com site

hey guys,:)
i thinking a long time about SLI with 2 x 7950 GX2 on X58/P55.
Do you think it is possible?
new 18x.xx driver doesn't support sli with 7950 GX2 and older drivers won't work on X58/P55.
Have you a solution?
Sry for my noob english:D

Okay who do I have to blow, to get some GTX 580 SLi support :)
Seriously though, anybody need some specifics or a vBIOS dump or something?
ASUS Crosshair IV Extreme (BIOS 0502)
2x PNY Geforce GTX 580 XLR8 Edition (SLi)
P.S. I know I have Lucid HydraLogix (no support either for the 580 yet.)
Ain't SLI working with latest SLIpatch 0.9b ?
RagingCain
11-24-2010, 11:34 AM
That is correct. What would you like me to try?
Followed instructions to the letter.
Got two choices for dual-booting, one obviously SLI-Patch modified.
Still no go for SLi, also believe we have had success with other cards on this board, I am coming here from Overclock.net (we have had some issues with latest drivers.)
Unfortunately, I need the latest drivers, because of the newer card (580.)
I am at work right now, but any info you need or want (if you are still interested in maintaining your clever little patcher) is yours, when I get home.
Operating system is Windows 7 Ulti (x64).
Forceware Drivers 263.09
Can you try with older cards (just any two paired cards for SLI) on this motherboard in same slots?
I'm not sure if Hydra is not messing stuff down. I do not run AMD systems since S939, nor dont have 580's, so can't confirm your issues altogether.

I don't have any other nVidia cards, just switched from Trifire 5870s.
No pressure on you, I will get support from HydraLogix eventually.
Just at least wanted to bring it up.
I read all the Q&A on site. Thats where I got the idea to switch slots.
I initially had the 580 in PCI-E slot #1 (Northbridge 890FX controlled) and
PCI-E slot #5 (Southbridge 850 / LucidHydraLogix controlled.)
Then I tried (after a clean install of everything) PCI-E Slot #1 (Northbridge 890FX)
and PCI-E Slot #3 (Northbridge 890FX.) So I have essentially eliminated almost
all interference from Lucid being silly.
I do plan on doing a fresh Windows 7 install, now that I have moved the cards
around etc. I will try again, but I am fairly confident I did it right. You never know
though with Windows ;)
Dynamo Kiev!
//EDIT
Tried a full fresh install of Windows 7, no dice. Report of another user at the
TechPowerUp (http://forums.techpowerup.com/showpost.php?p=2100102&postcount=4550) site, not being able to get it work for 580s either.
Also tried the very first set of drivers to support the 580, the 260.99. Didn't
work with that either :( Oh, well, going to enjoy the one card for now :) I will
check back periodically, I see that you posted this in your free time, so just a thanks
(even though I have never used it before) for all the cool stuff has done.

Hi there, I have SLI GTX470's and have been using the SLI patch in win764bit for some time now using 250/260 drivers.
However I cant seem to get the patch working with 265.90 (quadro) and 266.35 (beta) drivers. I think the 266.35 one is meant for the 500 series but I have installed this type of driver previously (262/263) and the patch worked fine.
Bit worried I wont be able to keep the drivers up to date and SLI enabled soon. The 266 driver fixes some SLI GPU utilisation issues with games like BC2 , which Ive been waiting for a while now. Currently I cant use it due to lack of SLI.
Is this a beta driver issue or a new incompatibility with the latest drivers? Do you think they will fix it?
*currently im using 260.99 and it works fine with the SLI patch. As soon as a higher version goes on , the nvidia control panel will crash when I enable SLI.

Trying 1.0 with a P55 UD3R and 2 465s. No luck so far with the 260.99 drivers so I'm downloading the Beta right now.

Well fresh format and Beta drivers didn't work. Any ideas why this isn't working for me on this particular board?

Driver 260.99 works fine, when trying to use latest version 266.58 the NV-control centre crashes, when you try to activate SLI.
( tested on X48 DQ6 with 2 GTX 460)
Any clou how to solve this problem?

Hi to all, well I want to answer to Ragingcain regard the issues of his system that looks similar to mine.
I don't know if it will work either for you, but mine works with drivers 267.24 beta.
First this is my setup:
Asus Crosshair IV formula (890fx supports only crossfire)
Phenom II 1090t
8gb Ram 1600 Mhz
2 x GTX 570 (Zotac and P.o.V.) with 3-way Sli bridge (slot 1 and slot 3 for 16x)
Windows 7 ultimate 64
I've started simply installing the Sli patch 0.9b and when I activate the Sli in nvidia control panel CRASHHH! Both control panel and drivers, gone. Uninstall of drivers and reinstall. Bul...it! I've said. Bought two cards who costs an eye and they didn't work.
So what I did:
I've uninstalled the sli patch 0.9b
I've downloaded Slistringinstaller 1.81 and choosed ASUS
I've downloaded HALMOD 0.9 Alpha who installs a cerificate(still ASUS)
And finally i've downloaded Sli patch 1.0 final and installed (founded in this thread).
Reboot and BANG! IT WORKS without any crashes.
I've tested the pc with several stressing softwares and is OK!
Sorry for my english, I hope that my report could be useful for You.
Up the Irons!

Anyone try the MSI FXA890 GD70 with the SLI Patch? - I am about to get grab a PNY 560 Ti to go with my MSI 560 Ti (I would grab another MSI 560 as it overclocks like a champ, its core was 880 and I got its core stable at 1000 and 2000 for shaders, while the core for the PNY is 850.. I hope it matches the clock).
Anyway... I am getting a new PSU, case, and another 560.... I just want to make sure I can bypass the crossfire crap and rock the SLI on it.
