View Full Version : Corsair Dominator GTX3 looking eager to meet the Dominance ?

I think it's about time I order a Dominance memory cooler Vince.
I may have lost one of my A-data Hyper MGH-E cherries, but the new GTX3 kit from Corsair looks very promising, and I'm trying to find any excuses to keep myself away from ordering a Dominance and filling the dewars to have some LN2 cooled RAM OC fun :D

My new 980X looks very promising ( IMC-wise at least :whistle: ) and I really want to break the DDR3-3000 barrier with 3 DIMMs in triple channel mode of course :D

The mems seem to be up for it, so expect an order sooner or later ( depending on how my vacation plans pan out )

Anyway, here's a quick test teaser ( all on air )

Again, Nice one William!! Buy the pot and show us 3000 already. :D

Nice cpu as well... this could be interesting!!! :up:

shocker...talkin shyt about something before actually doing it with excuses to fall back on when you don't come through.

i don't pay attention to overclocking anymore, but it is good to see somethings will never change :up:

*but you didn't use the term "warmup"? did you forget something, because that is your trademark term...i checked with the patent office and sure enough BZ on the patent for use of that term in regards to overclocking.

Since you like acting like a jerk or playing the wise-ass, let me set things straight.

First of all... I don't give a flying f*ck for your opinion.
Second, I will never waste my time tweaking and consume LN2 on CPUs & VGAs that aren't good enough.
Why would I want to waste my time tweaking a 5.4GHz SuperPi 32M 980X ?
You want to do that ? Good for you. I on the otherside don't like and don't want to.

raw freq, yaawn .. how about some performance?

Some quick testing results:

CL7 up to DDR3-2250 or so
CL8 up to DDR3-2550 or so

tRCD 9 won't work at DDR3-2400

I shall have more results later on.

It's a tough crowd over here Billy :whistle:, sounds like they wanna see more. How about some benches w killer frequencies. I thought u already had a memory cooler?

I know, but sometimes people need to understand that things may be more complicated than they think.
For example at this very time I have just one rig here, and that's my daily rig with RAID cards on it, multiple hard drives, blah blah and it's not that easy to take everything apart just to install windows on another HDD and bench.
My 2nd classified is on the way to eVGA for RMA.
I also have limited time as I have several things ( outdoor mostly ) to take care of, plus I have to deal with my f**** problematic stomach which is giving me a hard f* time the last 7 days or so.

And no, I don't have a memory cooler at the moment Vince, the quick tests I've done with the A-data's on LN2 was with the... BloodRage NorthBridge pot and... human applied pressure ( thanks sofo :p )

I busted my a$s today, memtested the sh1t out of them.
I was hoping to get some SuperPi 32M runs at 3-4 different frequencies, and then do some GTX 480 optimal driver & OS per benchmark testing afterward but... memtest86+ took all my time, I just stopped memtesting, TBH I don't remember when I started this memtesting session... surely over 10 hours of continuous memtesting.

The good news:

tCL ( CAS Latency )
6T = 10 loops test #5 up to... DDR3-2174
DDR3-2200 would crash after 1-2 loops, so the max should be around DDR3-2180
7T = 10 loops test #5 up to... DDR3-2200
DDR3-2250 would crash after 1-2 loops, so the max should be around DDR3-2220
8T = 10 loops test #5 up to... DDR3-2501
Don't know where the max stable is, I stopped there, don't think 9T would be any good in benching, will test it though later

tRCD 9T = minimum at over DDR3-1800 or so

tRP 5T up to DDR3-1850 or so
tRP 6T up to DDR3-2220 or so
tRP 7T up to DDR3-2420 or so
tRP 8T up to DDR3-2500+

Minimum tRAS possible at over DDR3-2000 = 24T
24T should be maintainable up to DDR3-2200 - DDR3-2230

How do they perform on 6-9-6-18? 2100 32M possible?

Tried dual channel & single channel a bit some minutes ago, nothing astonishing, I'm cleary BCLK and/or UnCore limited on air.

Pure run, no tweaks apart from new Windows XP x86 Xtreme installation, FAT32 filesystem, LSC.

FAT32 filesystem

Does that help with PI?

Yeap.
It shaves off 2-3 secs off 32M average for me vs NTFS.

FAT32 does almost nothing for me Bill. I've tried it so many times, even along with IOPageLockLimit @ 10000 instead of 16384, but still it doesn't have that much difference compared to NTFS. If one tunes his OS properly and performs copywaza, no matter if it is FAT32 or NTFS, the OS will produce solid numbers.

Now... In case one doesn't do the Copywaza, whether it's CDT or via OCXSpitweaker or whatever, then FAT32 will be a tad faster. By a tad faster I mean 0.2sec for example, maybe a little more.
However, 2-3 seconds only from moving to FAT32? That sounds completely irrational.

thank-you thank-you...i am here all week, and at the Starlight lounge on weekends.
