So as the tittle asks where would some make suggestions for evga board improvements?? Minly in bios. things like GTL refrence options would be cool to have. Cpu skews stuff like that. the board I have is amazing at memory overclocking and has a super lot of memory options. Also maybe a way to update the bios so that when you apply 1.3V it applies 1.3V instead of 1.325V dont get me wrong I love the fact that this board doees not droop with the voltage but instead it overvolts. Like I said this board is excellent but im just thinking of ways things could be made better and with shamino working closely with EVGA on their motherboard segment where better to post it. Also by default the board sets my ram at lower frequency and super loose timings but with 1T comand rate. instead of the stock 1600mhz 8-8-8-28-2t it sets it to 1333mhz 10-10-10-29-1t weird??

on auto it will not automatically set your ram, by default it will set stupid high SPD numbers....
thats normal... this board is designed to be setup by the overclocker..... you also have the xmp option if your ram modules support XMP |

No GTL on Nehalem architectures I'm afraid (no FSB). Most reference voltages are set internally, the exception being DRAM DQ ref (differential so not susceptible to ground bounce) & CMD/ADDR (single ended, but not ‘busy’ like the data lines).
Only thing I would add is a finer control range for DQ reference, this can help fine tune to 'counter' variations in driver output swing (temperature or load capacitance related at the IMC side of the bus). Last edited by Raja@ASUS; 02-09-2010 at 11:58 AM. |

good to know! does it make a difference which slots the ram is in?? I run mine in the grey slots would they run faster in the blck slots?? (closest to cpu) I know on X48 it ran better when closer to the nb but P55 is sill something im quite n00bish at. as you can tell by the GTL ref suggestion lol I didnt even think about it being related to fsb and this architechture doesnt have that

On Lynnfield you have to use slots 2&4 when running 2 modules in dual channel mode.
With Clarkdale (uses an older IMC), you can use either slots, though I'm finding 2&4 work best on most boards for high frequency. later Raja |
