Just try going step by step. cut one wire - check, etc..
not do everything together and then hope it work Even I did never do all steps at same time without intermediate checks, otherwise you can often find that lot of time just wasted on doing nonsense work.

Yea that's true
![]() I will try it again with the 2nd PCB. As the first one is working already I should find a way. Thanks again for your help! Will post again if I got something new

I did some more tests including my unmodded card.

The PWRGD and FAULTB traces (VT1165) on the 2nd PCB are not cut. Could this reset the NF200 on the other PCB? TiN there is another APW7066 on the 2nd PCB and I am not sure what this IC actually does as there is no NF200 or a similar chip. |

today I started with producing a zombie from a 4870
i had 3 dead ones it wont run at the moment :/ i think there is something missing after i cut off it stopped working. is hear someone with dates about the Voltera chip ? Volterra VT1165MF chips control seven VT1195SF power devices http://www.extremecooling.de/forum/a...1&d=1334514745 i made the shortcut and used the 3.3v from my power supply Last edited by teurorist; 04-15-2012 at 04:29 PM. |

from what i understand so far, the LDO setup used to bring our zombies to life are basically a power phase, like what is used to power the GPU.
for the guys who want to learn but are baffled by where to set this up on there zombies (like myself) you might be able to use this: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/370312787...ht_2373wt_1270 although this is cheating, we can still learn from this item, as you have to build it yourself. with this item you should be able to power on your voltage control chip. hope it helps |

heh, it's overcomplicated in this scope (it have diode bridge for AC in support, which is not needed when we power LDO from +12V)

But it would still get the job done right?

you can supply just 3.3v from your PSU , prolly work ok :O)

Hey Masters of the Zombies
,I have a little problem with my 8800GTX Zombie. I desoldered The GPU and cleaned all of the solder with Desolder braid(is it right? Don't know the English word of it picture) Then I Connected 12V an 3,3V from PCIe Slot. I tested it and it took about 1A@12V seemed to me that I had done it right. Then I went eat some cake. Came back to the card turned on my Power Supply and it took 3A (where i set my Current Limitation) and Vontage went down to ~1V. I've measured 0,6 Ohm on the PCIe Powerconnector so I have somwhere a short right? Or is the card just gone into the heaven of Components? ![]() If my english is incorret or bad or you just can't understand me correct me or ask Some Pictures: ![]() EDIT: Just measured a bit and I found one Error. my 3,3V Circuit gave the card ~4V( my trimpot had a defekt -.-). Now I rebuilded the Circuit an put only the 3,3V on the card. Current 1A. Is it normal or did the Card die? Last edited by Hartmut; 05-06-2012 at 07:26 AM. |
